A central base for mountain biking in North Wales
North Wales is one of the best places to ride in the UK, and the cottages sit roughly in the middle of it, on the edge of the Clocaenog Forest.
Local trails
North Wales has a concentration of world-class mountain biking that few places in Europe can match, from purpose-built trail centres to natural mountain singletrack and dedicated uplift downhill. Staying centrally near Corwen rather than out at one centre means you can ride a different place each day without long drives, and the major centres are all between roughly half an hour and an hour away.

The trail centres
Coed Llandegla, around 25 to 30 minutes, is the reliable mixed-ability day, with green to black trails, a skills area, a pump track, a café, bike hire and a bike wash. The easiest day to take a group of any ability.
Coed y Brenin near Dolgellau, around 40 to 45 minutes, is the original purpose-built Welsh trail centre, green to black and all-weather.
Penmachno near Betws-y-Coed and the Marin Trail (Gwydir Mawr) near Llanrwst, both around an hour, are natural red-graded rides for confident riders who want the mountain feel rather than a built centre.
Antur Stiniog at Blaenau Ffestiniog, around an hour, is a gravity-fed uplift downhill day, blue through black, booked ahead.
Dyfi Bike Park near Machynlleth, a longer day at roughly an hour and a quarter, is elite-level riding for experienced guests.
Riding from the cottage
For an easy day or an evening spin you do not have to drive anywhere. The Alwen Trail, a waymarked circuit of around seven miles around Alwen Reservoir, is roughly ten to fifteen minutes away and links with the trails at Llyn Brenig for about twenty miles of gentle, family-friendly forest riding, with a longer expert loop through the Clocaenog Forest for fit riders.

A base built for it
There is space to clean and store bikes securely overnight, with a log burner and a proper kitchen to come back to. A realistic week might be Llandegla for the mixed-ability day, Coed y Brenin or the Marin Trail for the big rides, Antur Stiniog for an uplift day, and the Alwen Trail from the door when you want an easy one. Bryn Eithin sleeps six for a group, Bwthyn Clychau’r Gog sleeps two, and a range of guest bikes is available for the local lanes and forest trails, just ask in the booking form.
